Thank you for an incredible, far-reaching, and lifesaving Global Cat Day and National Feral Cat Day!
All throughout and before October 16, cat advocates the world over made their voices heard and took actions for cats in a powerful embrace of the global truth that Cats Are Community™.
Cats Are Community is a recognition that every neighborhood, city, and country worldwide must have nonlethal policies and programs that treat all cats as community members. Evidence-based Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), the only humane and effective approach to community cats, must be central to these policies.
That is the thought leadership and change Global Cat Day is all about, while National Feral Cat Day is about acting to achieve a world where all cats are valued and protected.
We want to share just a few (of many!) highlights of Global Cat Day and National Feral Cat Day 2024, from Alley Cat Allies and from people around the world. Our mission extends far beyond just one day, so it’s not too late to take your own action. We invite you to get involved at GlobalCatDay.org.
200+ Cats and Kittens Spayed or Neutered in Tennessee
On October 15, Alley Cat Allies was on the ground in Lebanon, Tennessee, to support the National Feral Cat Day action of organization New Leash on Life. The incredible result: 100+ cats and kittens, both companion and community cats, were spayed or neutered! Cats and kittens like Blue and Muffin were also vaccinated, received any needed medical care and, if they were community cats, eartipped as part of TNR.
The cats’ caregivers also went home with no-cost cat food and Alley Cat Allies educational materials.
And on October 16, we were on the ground again in Gallatin, Tennessee, with Sumner Spay Neuter Alliance to provide high-quality, high-volume spay and neuter and TNR to another 100+ cats and kittens, like Richard and Libby.
Between both days, more than 200 cats from at least 15 different counties were helped (and many more through cat food resources)! Alley Cat Allies proudly supported these life-changing, wide-reaching actions of two dedicated Tennessee organizations, who lead their communities in protecting cats as the community members they are.
New Resources Launched
Just in time for Global Cat Day and National Feral Cat Day, Alley Cat Allies launched new resources to both help advocates save cats and kittens, and to expose the lethal government policies threatening cats right now.
Share the Truth: A Pocket Guide places the critical facts about cats at the fingertips of advocates like you.
See the flip book version or find it in our shop.
We also introduced our new video: “Exposing Lethal Government Policies Against Cats and Fighting to Stop the Killing.”
Around the world, opposition to TNR is leading to deadly government policies that harm and kill cats and kittens. We can stop the killing, but we need you with us. Learn and share how Alley Cat Allies is fighting TNR opposition, correcting dangerous disinformation about cats, and saving cats’ lives:
