Your Services and Experience

In which of the following areas do you have experience working with community cats? What services would you like to provide?

Eartipping

Eartipping is an effective and universally accepted method to identify a spayed or neutered and vaccinated community cat.  It is the preferred method to identify spayed or neutered and vaccinated community cats, because it is difficult to get close to them and therefore the identification must be visible from a distance.  To learn more about Eartipping protocols, please visit http://www.alleycat.org/page.aspx?pid=459

Additional FIV and FeLV Information

As a resource for TNR in your community, some individuals may turn to you with questions about FIV/FeLV and testing. For more information on these diseases and Alley Cat Allies’ official stance on testing, please visit www.alleycat.org/FeLV-FIV

If you are working with veterinarians who have questions about our testing policy, please visit www.alleycat.org/veterinarian for protocols, information, printable factsheets, and more!

Feral Friends Network Member Agreement

To be accepted into the network, applicants must share and support Alley Cat Allies’ positions, and agree to our stance on testing.  Please read the statements below and let us know if these are things you can agree to.

As a Feral Friends Network member, I will:

Uphold and support Alley Cat Allies’ mission to transform and develop communities to protect and improve the lives of cats.
What We Do

Alley Cat Allies is dedicated to protecting and improving the lives of all cats, regardless of what side of the door they are on. To learn more about our mission, please visit www.alleycat.org/AboutUs. To better understand the work we do for cats in your community and around the country, please visit www.alleycat.org/WhatWeDo.

Recognize that community cats lead healthy lives outdoors and recommend Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) for community cats.
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR)

Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is the only humane and effective approach for community cats. You can learn more about the case for TNR at www.alleycat.org/CaseforTNR. Did you know that outdoor cats are just as healthy as owned cats? Learn more about the health of outdoor cats at www.alleycat.org/HealthyOutdoors

Not test cats for FeLV or FIV while conducting TNR if they appear healthy, in accordance with Alley Cat Allies stance on testing found at www.alleycat.org/FeLV-FIV.
Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV)

Many veterinary spay and neuter clinics do not test for FeLV or FIV, because most community cats enjoy excellent health and are no more likely to be infected with disease than owned cats. Learn more at www.alleycat.org/FeLV-FIV.

Respond to requests for help within 48-hours, even if I cannot offer assistance or referrals
Feral Friend Member Responsiveness

Responsiveness is critical, and may save lives. For more information about the Feral Friends Network, visit www.alleycat.org/FeralFriends

Offer advice or assistance to the best of my ability as indicated within this application.
