Building on our disaster response following historic tornadoes in Arkansas this spring, Alley Cat Allies is working again in the Little Rock area to provide access to care for cats and kittens, from spay and neuter to injury treatment and any other needed surgery.

These two orange kittens had upper respiratory infections, among other medical concerns. Thanks to veterinary care covered by Alley Cat Allies, they’re on their way to recovery each day.
We are providing another grant to Community Cats of Central Arkansas, which helped lead tornado rescue for cats and vulnerable neonatal kittens in the area when the disaster struck in late March. Through our work together, we pulled cats and kittens out of the rubble and provided them with critical emergency veterinary care. For a senior cat named Thor, we even provided specialized surgery to repair his broken lower jaw. Today, he’s thriving and healing beautifully in his foster home!
Our new grant will expand these vital veterinary services even further into the community, which was in great need of no-cost care for cats long before the tornadoes. Now in their aftermath, short-term and long-term assistance is more necessary than ever.
Community Cats of Central Arkansas is one of the only organizations of its kind in the area. Our joint goal is to further build lifesaving infrastructure for cats in the community and provide much-needed support for their caregivers. To that end, we are primarily focusing on no-cost spay and neuter, Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), and vaccination. If a cat needs more in-depth treatment and surgery, those costs will be covered in full by Alley Cat Allies.
This is all to help the cats and the dedicated folks who care for them.

“So many people here care deeply for cats; they likely feed them before they feed themselves. But they and the cats need a great deal of help,” said Sarah Richardson, Admin at Community Cats of Central Arkansas. “We’re grateful to Alley Cat Allies for providing the means to care for and save our community’s cats and kittens when it is so urgently needed, especially as tornado recovery is still underway.”
Siblings Daisy and Minnie are already benefitting from our latest grant. Both are receiving flea treatment, food, fluids, and other care and are gaining strength (and weight!) each day in their foster home. We’ll care for them until they are at 100 percent and ready to be adopted!
We’re also already kicking into full gear on TNR, returning community cats spayed or neutered, vaccinated, eartipped, and microchipped to grateful caregivers.
