When conducting Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), be sure that each humane box trap has a trap tag fixed to it. The trap tag includes important information like: your contact information, the trap number, the location where each cat should be returned, and language alerting the public that humane trapping is in progress and not to disturb the traps.
The trap tag should stay on the traps throughout your TNR effort, including in the veterinary clinic. Tell your veterinarians that each cat must be returned to the same trap from which she was removed. This protocol ensures that the cats are properly tracked and can be returned to their exact outdoor homes.
